I grew up in and around Memphis, Tennessee to which I returned in September 1994, after spending seven years in Minneapolis-St. Paul. I received formal training in Organic Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Tennessee and the University of Minnesota, and in Medicine, at East Central University Medical School in the Dominican Republic. Over the years, I worked as a surgical assistant, an analytical chemist, and as a scientist in pharmaceutical research (3M Pharmaceuticals - St. Paul, Minnesota).
As a chemist by training, I couldn't resist giving the whole COPPER BENZOATE thing a whirl myself and found the results to be most rewarding; though the deceptively-simple appearing procedure took a while to fine tune. Having realized that there must be other pyro enthusiasts that would enjoy trying this compound in their formulations, we formed DPS to make this possible. In fact, though we do and will offer miscellaneous other items as well as our own precursor chemicals, we at DPS are mainly interested in locating/creating sources for odd pyro items that we may have seen mentioned, but for which we cannot find a source, either at all or at a reasonable price. We are soliciting any ideas you may have for items you'd like to have sourced and added to our line of the "unusual & sublime."
